Sermon On The Mount Part 4 – Friday July 14, 2017
Matthew 7 gets into a few hot-button issues, including the prospect of “do not judge” that the secular world and popular culture have latched onto out of context. This is not a comprehensive treatment, but hits some of the high spots. As it is, with all the related side topics addressed, we only got to verse 14 of Matt 7. The one and only authentic church of Jesus Christ
Have “the gates of Hades” prevailed against the church of Jesus Christ, or do we have a whole lot of compromise, imitations, and iniquity marring the testimony? Jesus once made a promise and declaration: And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. – Mt 16:18 But what do we have today? The New Creation – Sunday June 25, 2017
The new creation is what God addresses in His Word, the Bible. His intent in redeeming a people to Himself, as foretold in the Old Testament, and fulfilled in the New Testament in Jesus Christ is to repair a broken relationship between humans He has called and Himself. Christians can become blurry on these things. Their “old man,” or “old creature” as they were “in Adam” may even try to act, but if they have been regenerated, they have a new spirit united with the Holy Spirit. It is this spirit alone that is called to act and do and pray, and so forth in “newness of life” (Rom 6).…
