Life application of Hebrews 6-7 – Audio
Salvation in Jesus Christ is the most precious gift anyone can hope to receive, and the Epistle to the Hebrews nails this home.
In our continuation of a life application of the epistle, we touch on real issues pertaining to life in God.
The word was written to those in danger of drifting away, or who have not entered God’s rest – words so dire Martin Luther had serious controversy with the value of Hebrews.
“It need not surprise one to find here bits of wood, hay, and straw,” said Luther of Hebrews according to The Facts About Luther, 1916–1987 reprint ed., p. 203, O’HarePF.
Why? Well for one, like Revelation – which he also had issues with when he said “I can in no way detect that the Holy Spirit produced it” – Hebrews touches the theory of once saved always saved so as to draw it into doubt.
The positive side of Hebrews is it is a word of encouragement and warning from one concerned for its readers – and you, by extension. It also tells much for God’s true followers to rest our hope in; how we have “a better covenant with better promises” and Jesus, our High Priest ever lives to make intercession for His people.
In all, it is sobering, and good news.
May the Lord bless you!
