Do we want God’s mission, or man’s tradition? – audio teaching

It’s no secret that Christianity has divided into thousands of sub-divisions, or denominations that in the extreme claim things that are the polar opposite of what the Word of God teaches.

God, who is the same as ever, and who has not changed His mind on the reason why He sent Jesus Christ, would still bring us to know “the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” (Jude 1:3)

This is not saying we are the authority, but that God is the authority. He is the one who can lead us in. Our calling is to seek Him in prayer, and be obedient, and trust and have faith, and become as a teachable little child.

True spirituality is God’s will, as is that we become more and more like Jesus, having the same Spirit as He did, along with the early Christians we read about in the Bible like Stephen (Acts 6) who was full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom.

A tree is known by its fruit. Put another way, the results of what we say we stand for ought to be of the same Spirit as was from the beginning. Among those born again, God’s Spirit ought to “bear witness” with an internal amen to what is really true – that may even counter what human Bible teachers have taught, if what they taught was against the spirit of the truth.

All this is possible if we do not “quench” the Holy Spirit with mentally held understanding passed on from the minds of humans and fabricate a Christian life that is a “form of godliness that denies the power thereof.” (2 Tim 3:5)

The standard of what God can do in those who will seek, believe, and obey is plain to see in the Word, and this audio message (click player below) goes into an overview of some of this.

God wants relationship, us to love Him, and for us to move through our lives as those who hear His voice (Jn 10), even as sons and daughters of the kingdom of God; as new creatures (2 Cor 5:17), walking even as Jesus walked.

1 John 2:6 – He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
