The call for Christ’s assembly unified under His one Spirit, in the teaching of the apostles, was not considered optional or a suggestion. It was first called for by the Lord (John 17:20-23) and reiterated by the apostles whose goal was to establish a witness and testimony that – if people obeyed – would demonstrate with great effectiveness that God was among them. When the Corinthians began breaking into sub-sects – or factions, or divisions – the root of today’s denominationalism – the apostle Paul was greatly upset and wrote them saying not to do it. The eternal perspective – and what God really wants – audio sermon
Humans are eternal beings who often live in the paradigm of this world, their cares, and not so mindful of what the Bible teaches is the true reality, or “eternal perspective.” This is sad but not unexpected of those who do not name Christ, but what about those who do say they represent the kingdom of God on earth? Since the Protestant Reformation put on steroids a tendency in the carnal theologians who came before. so many have argued with scripture verses allegedly backing them that they know the way of Christ.
