What is Christianity and why do we live?

Life application of Hebrews 6-7 – Audio

    January 12, 2018 /

Salvation in Jesus Christ is the most precious gift anyone can hope to receive, and the Epistle to the Hebrews nails this home. In our continuation of a life application of the epistle, we touch on real issues pertaining to life in God. The word was written to those in danger of drifting away, or who have not entered God’s rest – words so dire Martin Luther had serious controversy with the value of Hebrews. “It need not surprise one to find here bits of wood, hay, and straw,” said Luther of Hebrews according to The Facts About Luther, 1916–1987 reprint ed., p. 203, O’HarePF.

Healing in a Christian world of disarray

    January 12, 2018 /

Man was made to live in God’s presence, in the Garden of Eden, and ever since Adam and Eve were ejected, independently minded and fallen mankind has been trying to make do. God made us to be dependent upon Him, to walk in divine health, not be sick, or depressed, or sad, or know death, strife, grief, turmoil. Through Israel He proposed a covenant whereby if they would hearken diligently to His voice, He would make them a showcase people, a model nation, and great and abundant blessings would come upon His people as a testimony to all – and as an offer to all to come join them, and…

    Why do Christians live?

    January 12, 2018 /

We who name the name of Christ do so for God’s good pleasure. Many people emphasize aspects of the whole truth, but the Word of God covers many things important to God that fall under the overarching dictate of surrender to His will. That is, God’s creation – man and the fallen angels – have rebelled, become independent in their minds and thoughts, and redemption is a restoration of man to obedience. The devils cannot be saved for they knew God and rebelled to his face, whereas man is born under sin in Adam. Rom 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin,…

The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus – Audio

    January 7, 2018 /

A foundational topic of a normal Christian life, the “law of the spirit” is something everyone should know. Like the lilies of the field that just grow, the law is a spontaneous phenomenon experienced by those rightly abiding in Christ, in faith, and this overcomes the “law of sin” (or the sin nature). The apostle Paul spoke of this in Rom 7 and 8 (copied in below). In Rom 8, he uses the term “law” in three different applications and this can be confusing to some. Colored in words help call out the different uses of the word “law” and this handout was given with this house church sermon. May…

Matthew 11 - 25 At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. 26 Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. 27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
