Becoming spiritual and guarding against the flesh

    September 3, 2017 /

Since the beginning of the church, Christians have been warned against “the flesh,” and exhorted to believe God and become spiritual (1 Cor 3). The New Covenant is a better covenant with better promises (Heb 8:6) and grace is both “unmerited favor,” and that which provides God’s spiritual enablement to know Him, hear Jesus’ voice (Jn 10), and be sons and daughters who “walk in the spirit (Gal 5, Rom 8). But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with…

Salvation in Christ – Romans 5 Study and Side Commentary – Sept 1, 2017

    September 1, 2017 /

Here we continue on in Romans, chapter 5, but a lot of side comments and even some quotes are read from ante-Nicene leaders (pre-300 AD / Constantine). SEE ALSO: Salvation By Faith in Jesus Christ – Romans 4 Bible Study Those leaders words were read not to supercede the scriptures, but to merely show how they understood the scriptures. Their holy calling was to preserve the apostles’ doctrine that gave rise to the church. Lord bless you!

The New Creation – Sunday June 25, 2017

    June 25, 2017 /

The new creation is what God addresses in His Word, the Bible. His intent in redeeming a people to Himself, as foretold in the Old Testament, and fulfilled in the New Testament in Jesus Christ is to repair a broken relationship between humans He has called and Himself. Christians can become blurry on these things. Their “old man,” or “old creature” as they were “in Adam” may even try to act, but if they have been regenerated, they have a new spirit united with the Holy Spirit. It is this spirit alone that is called to act and do and pray, and so forth in “newness of life” (Rom 6).…

    The Love of God – A Christian’s Motivation – Sunday June 18, 2017

    June 18, 2017 /

This is an overview on the true motive of why we Christians do anything in a life given to God. Paul the apostle said “the love of Christ constrains me,” and it is this agape love that is to be our core root motivation. Humans who operate under fear-based motives may actually do much for God, and even preach a God of love. However, if the balance of their heart’s motive is because they are more afraid of God because they have a son or daughter’s love for God, they miss the point. SEE ALSO: The Love of God They may even produce works and “fruit” that appears to be…

The Amazing Power of Faith – Audio Sermon – June 11, 2017

    June 11, 2017 /

God calls His people to believe Him. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, that as many as would hear Him would be saved – not just as a one-time major believing to be followed by a life of less than such faith, but for life! But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. – Heb 11:6 The following touches on big-picture principles, pertinent scriptures, and practical pointers for those wishing to live a life pleasing to God, bearing fruit, with joy and peace, and so much…
